Fuel-Efficiency Standards: California Has To Compromise

California Environmental Regulations
California needs to compromise over a recent disagreement with the Trump administration over environmental regulations.

State leaders of California have pushed against the Trump administration on a number of issues: taxes, climate change, and immigration. These same leaders can now add environmental regulations to their list.

The Washington Examiner has said, “California, which can set its own fuel efficiency standards, has fought the Environmental Protection Agency over the proposed weakening of rules set by the Obama administration that would require automakers to nearly double the average fuel economy of new cars and trucks to 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025.

A top EPA official said Thursday at the Washington Auto Show, which opens for the general public this week, that the agency wants to make nice with California.”
